SMNT OPENS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WITH TOUGH LOSS TO LEBANON
IZMIR, Turkey - Canada's Road Warriors lead in points for the first three quarters, but could not hold on for the win, as Lebanon outscored the red and white 24-13 final quarter to take the game 81-71 in the preliminary round of the FIBA World Championship.
"I don't think there is one easy game in our pool," said Leo Rautins, SMNT Head Coach. "We've just got to grind it out."

IZMIR, Turkey - Canadas SMNT played a hard fought game, leading by as many as 17 points, but a last minute push by Lithuania gave the team the win on day two of the FIBA World Championship (68-70). With the loss Canada moves to 0-2, while Lithuanias record is 2-0.

IZMIR, Turkey - The Senior Men's National Team dropped a hard fought game to New Zealand 61-71 in the preliminary round of the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Jevohn Shepherd (Toronto) led the team with 15 points off the bench.
Centre Joel Anthony (Montreal) of the Miami Heat added 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor to go along with six boards and two blocks. Denham Brown (Toronto) chipped in with 12.

IZMIR, Turkey - The Senior Men's National Team (SMNT) concluded their participation in the 2010 FIBA World Championship after they lost 89-67 to Spain. Rookie Kelly Olynyk (Kamloops, B.C.) led all Canadian scorers with 14 points.
Toronto natives Jevohn Shepherd and Jermaine Anderson added 12 points and 11 points respectively.

IZMIR, Turkey Versatile guard Andy Rautins is in doubt for Canadas crucial clash against France today in Izmir due to a knee complaint.
Rautins, whose ball handling ability from the shooting guard position is a key component of Canadas running game, has appeared hobbled in both games so far, and was only able to play 18 minutes in his teams two point loss to Lithuania.
